NSC Bulletin Board *

When I became an officer of the Student Body Organization (SBO) in SY 2005-2006 of Misamis University, I felt the needs of the College of Nursing. I was thinking that Nursing students need a bulletin board to keep them informed of the activities and achievements of the college. Hence, being an SBO officer, I proposed for the said bulletin board project. However, this proposal was not materialized at first due to financial constraints.

Nevertheless, I was determined to realize such project. During the first semester of SY 2006-2007, I was elected as president of Nightingale Student Circle (NSC). I learned at that time that the organization did not have any funds at hand. So, I proposed to the SBO officers to allocate budget for a bulletin board for the College of Nursing. Unfortunately, my move did not gain favorable response. Hence, to cover up the expenses of the said project, I urged all NSC officers to create fund-raising activities. As soon as the school administration gave its approval to our proposed activities, NSC did the following: back massage (earned Php 1,885.00), film viewing (earned Php 1,240.00), videoke (earned Php 976.00), and vending booth (earned Php 714.00). NSC was able to raise a total amount of Php 4,189.00 as of September 13-15, 2006.

But the money that the group had at that point was still not enough to meet the needed expenses amounting to Php 13,350.00 for the said bulletin board project. The NSC officers then agreed to contribute Php 500.00 each to supplement the outstanding funds. Moreover, all nursing students were collected Php 50.00 each as membership fee of NSC. Few friends also offered contributions for the said project. Eventually, the needed amount was met. On the first week of the following semester, NSC was able to install its bulletin board.

Now, students together with the faculty and staff of the College of Nursing and School of Midwifery and Health Aide, enjoy looking at the latest news and information through this bulletin board.
